Granted, the Engi A can only do that much by the skin of it's teeth, but still. Same with the rest of the ship, barring the hull itself.Īnd while the Kestrel A is arguably better than the Engi A, well, it's only arguably better, and, unlike the Engi A, the Kestrel can't defeat the Flagship with it's default armament.

McWeazel, PhD:No, you can upgrade your shield system at any time (the Tutorial should've explained this much). Maybe I'm not as good as I think but I did read some guides and I often pause the game to think which system I should attack next and similar stuff, I'll try to play a few more games maybe I'll get a better understanding of the game but as of now to me it seems that luck matters 80% of the time.īy the way the only way to upgrade your shield is by unlocking new ships right? also is it just me or is the first ship better than the engi's ship? I already knew most of that stuff but it's still impossible sometimes, one moment you are winning without effort the next you find an enemy ship that disables/destroys most of your systems and if they target the engine or command room you don't even have a chance to escape.Īnd I don't think I did anything wrong, I had 75% hull and I had a decent ship for being at sector 3 but I still lost and wasted something like 20 minutes just because I was unlucky. Once you get in the groove you'll be swatting ships like they aint nuttin but flies. Originally posted by ColdBlade000:Keep with it, the game is very challenging but thats part of its charm. But things can always go wrong and you can always slip up, and thats what the game feeds on to be difficult. If you played a perfect game, there's nothing you coulda done. But sometimes there's a bunch of mistakes you could have avoided or untapped resources you could have gathered and all that adds up. You could be doing a bunch of these already and playing to the best of your ability and sometimes you'll just lose. Try and explore until the exit is about to be swallowed up. Push the envelope with the rebel pursuit. This means you can see more shops, distress calls, things of that nature and make plans to whatever is best for you at that moment. Choose jumps with multiple branching options over a single lined path because you can scan each dot connected to the one you are at ((so get to see if there's an interesting resource)) Get the most you can out of each section. But hey, they didn't get my guns or engines or shields.im still doing alright. Sometimes I might have to wait at the end of a fight to get all my oxygen back before I jump, and sometimes my oxygen gets crippled and i have to rush a fix. It helps me put power somewhere else like engines so i get a little extra evasion. What can you do to help avoid taking the pain? Can you disable at least one weapon? No, why not? Can you cripple it's evasion so you can hit? Lower the shields so that you can cripple some system?

Sometimes a jump leads to a free wepaon and scrap, as long as you are alive there is always hope things will get better. There is no shame in leaving a situation that would leave you crippled or destroyed should you stay. If you have not gotten your ship up to snuff for the area you are in.you may have to run. But there is plenty you can do in an attempt to get the most out of what is at your disposal. All you have to do is learn some of the tricks, and some would say get lucky.

Seriously though, it sounds like you have a good grasp on accepting challenge. Keep with it, the game is very challenging but thats part of its charm.
